The University of Montana Western invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. This is a high-impact leadership role within the Department of Athletics, offering the opportunity to shape the voice, brand, and media presence of Bulldog Athletics while working closely with the Director of Athletics and the senior leadership team.
The Assistant Athletic Director will oversee all aspects of athletic communications, including sports information, media relations, marketing, and social media strategy. This individual will play a vital role in promoting UMW’s intercollegiate programs and student-athletes, while also helping to guide department-wide initiatives and game-day operations.

As a trusted advisor to the Athletic Director, the successful candidate will have input in strategic planning, branding, fan engagement, and long-term communication initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead all athletic communications and media relations efforts, including the development and execution of social media and marketing strategies.
Serve as the primary content manager for the official UMW athletics website, overseeing game coverage, feature stories, statistical records, athlete profiles, and historical archives.
Hire, train, and supervise student workers and game-day staff, cultivating a collaborative and professional environment.
Manage game-day operations in coordination with staff, ensuring setup, execution, and cleanup are completed at the highest standard.
Oversee aspects of ticketing for home athletic events:
Requirements: Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of sports statistics software (NCAA Live Stats, Presto, StatCrew).
Familiarity with video editing, livestreaming, photography, and/or graphic design.
Proficiency with computer applications including word processing, website management, social media, video editing, and digital calendaring.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple events and tasks simultaneously.
Ability to perform basic facility and equipment maintenance.
