This is a part-time, temporary position, averaging less than 30 hours per week. The initial term is 12 months, renewable for up to an additional 12 months. Tuition remission of up to 9 graduate credit hours per term (no more than 18 credit hours per academic year) to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is provided, in addition to a $ 1,000 monthly stipend. Students are responsible for all other enrollment-related fees. No other benefits are available.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), a premier NCAA Division II athletic conference headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to serve as a graduate assistant in its strategic communications office. The start date for this position is flexible, but not earlier than July 1, 2026.
Reporting to the Associate Commissioner, the successful candidate will assist in all facets of promoting the league and its members. Candidates should be proficient in media relations and video production and able to work independently as well as in a team setting to efficiently meet established goals and deadlines. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Serve as the primary or secondary media contact for the RMAC’s 22 league-sponsored sports:
Write, edit, and publish press releases and other updates.
Assist in managing and producing content for the RMAC’s social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) – including creating and disseminating Player of the Week promotional materials.
Maintain and update the conference’s website (RMACSports.org).
Serve as video content editor for conference-related events and championships on the RMAC Network.
Possible on-air and broadcast opportunities at RMAC Championships.
Serve as an on-site media relations coordinator and/or videographer at selected conference championships and other RMAC-sponsored events.
Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, an understanding of NCAA rules and regulations, and should be considering a career in media relations or multi-media. The applicant must be willing to travel as needed. Applicants should also be self-starters with strong attention to detail. Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere, prior use of the SIDEARM content management system (CMS), and a basic understanding of writing in accordance with Associated Press style guidelines are preferred. Candidates should also have a basic understanding of, and be comfortable working in, the world of athletics, sports statistics, and video production. A valid driver’s license is required.
Candidates should have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and have experience as a student-athlete or in athletics. The candidate must be admitted to a UCCS graduate program and maintain full-time enrollment to receive tuition benefits.
The RMAC is a premier NCAA Division II conference located in Colorado Springs, Colo., with 15 member institutions. The RMAC sponsors 22 varsity NCAA sports and has produced 67 NCAA Division II national champions and 54 national runners-up since 1992.
