Duties include, but are not limited to: The Sports Information & Athletic Operations Intern is a two-year, entry-level administrative position designed to provide comprehensive exposure to NCAA Division III athletics administration. Reporting to the Sports Information Director, this role supports athletic communications, game operations, event management, and student workforce supervision. The position is structured to provide progressive responsibility, professional development, and broad-based experience across a large athletics program. The successful candidate will:
Game Coverage & Athletic Communications (Approx. 45%) • Assist with game-day operations including statistics, scorekeeping, media coordination, and press box management • Write game recaps, feature stories, and assist with website and social media updates • Produce written and graphic content for social media on Facebook, X, and Instagram to continue growing Adrian College Athletics brand and following • Assist with coordination and supervision of student workers assigned to game-day communications
Athletic Operations & Event Management (Approx. 30%) • Support planning and execution of athletic contests and special events • Assist with facility setup, scheduling coordination, and event logistics • Collaborate with coaches, athletic training, facilities, and campus partners to ensure smooth operations • Provide support for postseason and championship events as assigned
Student Workforce Supervision & Development (Approx. 15%) • Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student workers • Provide mentorship and promote professionalism and skill development • Support development of student worker training processes and expectations
Administrative Exposure & Professional Development (Approx. 10%) • Participate in departmental meetings, planning discussions, and special projects • Engage in NCAA and institutional professional development opportunities • Assist with initiatives related to fan engagement and student-athlete experience • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills • Ability to work evenings and weekends in a fast-paced, event-driven environment • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple responsibilities
Physical Requirements: • Ability to stand for extended periods during events • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed for event setup • Prolonged periods working on a computer The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Desired Qualifications: • Interest in pursuing a career in collegiate athletics administration • Experience with athletic communications, event management, or digital media • Familiarity with social media platforms, live streaming, or statistics software Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and willingness to learn
