Illinois Wesleyan University, a NCAA Division III institution located in Bloomington, Ill., seeks an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. This position will serve as the primary contact for 5-7 sports and play a vital role in enhancing the student-athlete experience, expanding the reach of the athletics brand, and driving fan engagement.
This position will report to the Associate AD for Communications & Marketing and join a team that also includes a full-time live stream coordinator, another assistant director, two graduate assistants, and a robust student worker staff. Specific sport assignments will be determined based on the candidate and at recommendation from the hiring committee.
The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications supports student-athletes in recognizing their accomplishments by creating content for parents, alumni, faculty, staff, fans and friends of the University. To support in-game statistics for the Titan athletic program as required by the NCAA. Serve as a role model & mentor to those students interested in athletic communications. Essential Responsibilities:
- Gameday Coverage
- Maintain statistics for various sports as required by NCAA and CCIW
- Oversee and manage student workers at assigned events
- Assist with game day operations for assigned sports
- Manage external media personnel & serve as media liaison for assigned sports
- Website Management
- Develop content for iwusports.com
- Oversee & manage student workers through experiential learning opportunities
- Assist in upkeep of record books and historical archives
- Assist in day-to-day maintenance of iwusports.com
- Creative Content & Social Media Management
- Graphic design, video and photo production, live content capture
- Manage departmental social media accounts
- Assist with department social media initiatives
- Oversee social media postings to ensure NCAA compliance
- Recruiting & Alumni Engagement
- Assist with creation of recruiting materials for assigned sports
- Coordinate recruiting & alumni activities with coaches
- University Communications; assist in athletics coverage with IWU magazine; collaborate with University Communications regarding athletic related stories and special projects

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s required
- Minimum of three years related experience; experience with sidearm web, genius sports stats, statcrew, adobe suite software and other computer programs.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules, sport rules, CCIW rules and institutional policies.
- Travel with teams for regular and postseason competition. Weekend and evening hours, as needed
