Conference USA is accepting applications for the Strategic Communications Assistant position for the 2026-27 academic year. This 10-month internship begins August 1, 2026. Located in Coppell, Texas, CUSA is a 10-member DI conference sponsoring championships in 19 sports. This position supports both the Communications and Digital Content departments by serving as the primary communications contact for Cross Country, Track & Field, Women’s Bowling, Women’s Tennis and Men’s Golf, while also assisting in content sharing for the league’s social media channels.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communications
Support the league’s strategic communications under the direction of the Assistant Commissioner.
Excellence in managing deadlines and providing customer service to all entities upon request.
Serve as the primary contact for designated sports, managing press releases, statistics, website updates, historical records and award submissions.
Write weekly statistical recaps and Player of the Week releases for assigned sports.
Act as liaison to sport-specific communications directors at member schools.
Work to help identify and communicate CUSA messages and stories through website and social media
Assist in championship preparation and execution in collaboration with Sports Services
Distribution and record-keeping for all-academic honors with Academic Services
Research and preparation of relevant information for NCAA sport committees
Compilation and distribution of NCAA statistical and award information to member institutions
Multimedia
Assist in managing official CUSA social media channels for assigned sports
Contribute to and maintain Digital Content calendar, generating creative/engaging social media ideas.
Adhere to branding/style guidelines for CUSA, member schools, media partners and corporate sponsors
Assist in clipping video plays for social during CUSA games

Skills and Experience Needed
Previous experience in a collegiate or professional sports communications office preferred.
Strong writing and editing skills with a solid understanding of AP style.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail, work ethic and honesty.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats and SIDEARM strongly preferred.
