Carthage Athletics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented graduate assistant to support the athletic communications office and enhance the visibility of Firebirds athletics across multiple platforms. This position plays a key role in telling the stories of Carthage’s varsity programs through written content, digital media, and statistical coverage while providing daily operational support to the department. The two-year appointment begins in August 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for assigned programs of the College’s twenty-eight varsity sports.
- Manage, schedule, and oversee student workers, including daily assignments and event coverage.
- Write, edit, and distribute press releases, game recaps, previews, and other communications content.
- Assist with graphic design, social media content, and athletic video production.
- Attend home games and compile, input, and maintain official statistics for a variety of sports.
- Support day-to-day athletic communications operations, including website updates and event coverage.
- Maintain accurate records and statistical data for assigned programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in sport management, journalism, communications, or a related field is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Full acceptance into one of Carthage College’s graduate programs.
