The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference is seeking candidates to serve a one-year internship in the field of strategic communications with an approximate start date of August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. The successful candidate will support the growth of the league’s digital and social media initiatives by assisting in the creation of engaging web, social, and mobile content. This position reports to the Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications and will assist the Conference staff on a daily basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with Conference staff as well as individuals at the institutional level to conceptualize and execute content strategy.
Daily creation and distribution of content to be utilized on the PSAC’s social channels.
Work with PSAC Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications to execute pre-game, in-game, and post-game social strategy in an effort to promote the conference, its member institutions, and engage its key audiences.
Assist in the monitoring and moderating of social conversation on various platforms.
Coordinate on-site social media efforts at select PSAC events (i.e. championships.)
Formulate new ideas and creative ways to tell the PSAC’s stories, leveraging the conference’s digital media assets.
Assist daily with creation, monitoring, and posting of content (i.e. releases, scores, standings, statistics) to psacsports.org.
Help manage custom pages on psacsports.org for championships and various other areas.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Preferred candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree and previous experience with collegiate or professional athletics.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Familiarity with Associated Press style.
Experience with and knowledge of existing social media platforms and emerging channels required. Skills in graphic design, website content management systems, desktop publishing, and copywriting also preferred.
Ability to work well within a team environment.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment, think strategically, and solve problems quickly under pressure.
Experience working in a project-based environment with an emphasis on meeting deadlines.
Ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings (weekends, weekdays, nights, and holidays).

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference is an NCAA Division II Athletic Conference consisting of 17 institutions and sponsors 23 collegiate sports. Highly competitive on a regional and national level, PSAC schools annually combine to send nearly one-third of its teams into NCAA postseason play.
