Carthage Athletics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented graduate assistant to support the athletic communications office and enhance the visibility of Firebirds athletics across multiple platforms. This position plays a key role in telling the stories of Carthage’s varsity programs through written content, digital media, and statistical coverage while providing daily operational support to the department. The two-year appointment begins in August 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for assigned programs of the College’s twenty-eight varsity sports.
Manage, schedule, and oversee student workers, including daily assignments and event coverage.
Write, edit, and distribute press releases, game recaps, previews, and other communications content.
Assist with graphic design, social media content, and athletic video production.
Attend home games and compile, input, and maintain official statistics for a variety of sports.
Support day-to-day athletic communications operations, including website updates and event coverage.
Maintain accurate records and statistical data for assigned programs.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in sport management, journalism, communications, or a related field is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Full acceptance into one of Carthage College’s graduate programs.
