The Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations is a full-time, 12-month position.  Reporting to the Associate VP of Athletics, the formerly titled Director of Athletic Communications plays a key role in overseeing all aspects of athletic communications for Tornados Athletics. This position is responsible for coordinating sports information coverage for all athletic events and creates and distributes content that promotes student-athletes, coaches, and staff, enhancing their recognition on regional and national levels. Additionally, this role manages student workers, assists with digital content creation, and participates in campus events and committees to increase the visibility and engagement of Tornados Athletics. The position requires the ability to handle an irregular work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. 

A Bachelor’s degree in sports management, communications, or similar field required; Master’s degree preferred.  Desired qualifications include a minimum three years experience in sports information or related field. 

Qualified candidate must have exceptional problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and ability to resolve issues under intense time constraints.  Demonstrated excellence in sports journalism, oral and written communication skills and working knowledge of sport statistics software (Genius and Presto) are also required.  Experience in print lay-out, desktop publishing, web page design, social media graphic design, and sport broadcasting is highly desired. This position also requires occasional public speaking and on-air broadcasting.
