SUMMARY: The Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the promotion and publicity of Rockford University’s 13 NCAA Division III intercollegiate varsity sports.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant will help shape the creative direction of the department and assist in highlighting the accomplishments of its student-athletes through graphic design and writing. Some responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting with home game day operations
Writing, editing, and disseminating press releases, game notes and stories
Managing the athletic department social media pages and producing other digital media content
QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree is required; admission into a Rockford University graduate program (Sport Management and Leadership or MBA); previous experience in an Athletic Communications/Sports Information Office is preferred; Experience with or knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, NCAA LiveStats and/or a SIDEARM website is helpful but not required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: GA will receive 21 credit hours of tuition remission per year, on-campus room and board and a monthly stipend.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Athletic Communications requires attendance at most home athletic events, both indoors and outdoors; Nights and weekends are required; Office work will also be involved.
