Missouri State University Athletics Communications is seeking two (2) graduate assistant for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. This unique position allows for the selected candidate to gain hands-on experience in the intercollegiate sports industry while assisting Missouri State Athletics in growing its brand and telling the stories of its student-athletes.
Duties / Responsibilities: 1. Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, the position will serve as primary contact for assigned sports and assist with game-day operations for other home games as scheduled. 2. Document events through the compilation of statistics, stories, records, photos and archives 3. Update season and career records, media guides, programs and printed materials 4. Write press releases, athlete bios, feature stories, event previews and event recaps 5. Coordinate all team social media content creation and scheduling. Collaborate with video coordinator and full-time athletics personnel to promote program growth through visual media. 6. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements This nine-month position includes full tuition and fee waivers and a monthly stipend. The two-year appointment will begin in August 2025. The successful applicant must also meet the admission requirements for Missouri State's Graduate College with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 while maintaining a full-time graduate course load of 6.0 hours. It is expected that the selectee would hold the position for two years while completing his or her master’s degree and serve a three-month summer appointment between the first and second academic years with the same benefits as above.
Qualifications 1. Applicants must possess excellent communication and organizational skills 2. A strong work ethic, initiative and professionalism are paramount to being a part of the Athletics Communications team. 3. The successful applicant must be willing and able to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holiday breaks 4. Preferred applicants must possess knowledge of basic computer applications, including the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft products and have a willingness and ability to learn new programs 5. Previous experience using statistical applications such as NCAA Live Stats programs is a plus
6. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
