The Associate Director, Media Relations and Content Creation is responsible for the ideation, capture, creation and distribution of all creative content related to Baseball and other Sports as assigned. Coordinates with the Media Relation unit, Creative Services unit, other External Communications units and sports staff, to identify the creative communication strategies for the assigned programs with the guiding principles of increasing reach, assisting recruiting and driving revenue. This position will work on a daily basis within the Media Relations unit to serve as a brand manager and the primary point-of-contact with the local and national media with responsibility for brainstorming, producing and pitching stories of Carolina Athletics in video, graphic and/or written form. Will develop, champion and defend Carolina branding and positioning in all multimedia platforms with responsibility for ensuring that content and messaging meets the standards of the Department of Athletics and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Must demonstrate exceptional customer service as this position will have extensive inter-personal dealings with student-athletes, coaches, administrators from within athletics and the University, as well members of the media and other external audiences. Must be creative and have strong content-creation skills. Must demonstrate the ability to deal with stressful changing situations. Much time will be spent in front of a computer, going to games and possibly requiring out-of-town travel. Must have strong IT skills, and be able to navigate stadiums and press boxes. Must meet deadlines.
