In concert with the Athletic Director, directs and provides media information for seventeen (17) intercollegiate sports, and implements appropriate actions and strategies within areas of responsibility.
Adheres to NCAA Division II, Mountain East Conference, and Fairmont State University rules and regulations for its 17 sport programs as it relates to all aspects of sports information.
Seeks professional relationships with media that will benefit the visibility and reputation of the athletic program.
Works with coaches and others to identify, prioritize, establish and accomplish athletic communications objectives.
Creates, edits, plans and manages all content on FightingFalcons.com.
Oversee a part-time staff that includes a photographer, videographer, work study, student, and volunteer workers.
Coordinates to ensure that workers are hired and assigned to cover the various game management functions required for each sporting event, such as public address announcer, scoreboard, live streaming video, and other functions.
Help with the production of broadcasts.
Maintains a successful social media presence through relevant outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, & YouTube).
Supports athletic department with external media relations and photo days; creating and developing press releases, game notes for media, media guides, game programs, sports schedules, posters, athletic recruiting materials, and other athletic department printed material.
Interacts effectively and responsively with coaches, athletes, staff, students, and community members.
Gathers, maintains, and posts NCAA required statistics; adhere to all NCAA rules, regulations and expectations.
Maintains team and individual records and photo archives.
Operates in-game scoring statistical programs.
Assists with marketing and development initiatives and contributes to the overall strategic initiatives of the department.
When available and able, travel with teams to away contests to keep statistics and send reports to media outlets.
Serve on Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.
Performs related work as assigned or as necessary.
At least three years of related experience at the collegiate level, however, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable which provides an applicant the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities and the capability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Experience with football and NCAA Division II athletics preferred.
