The Director, Athletics Communications is responsible for overseeing communications and content efforts for select University of Miami NCAA Division I teams and strategically promoting those programs in concert with the communications, digital, design and video departments to elevate the Miami Hurricanes brand across all communications channels.
Job Functions
Serve as the primary communications contact for the women’s basketball program and select Olympic sports, with an emphasis on strategy and content planning for various social media platforms and MiamiHurricanes.com.
Responsibilities also include serving as liaison to local and national media, writing and distributing press releases, overseeing press operations at home events, editing publications, submitting award nominations, managing all information on MiamiHurricanes.com, historical archiving and creating and publishing content.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, institutional and departmental rules.
All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Ability to work independently, set priorities and think critically.
Basic knowledge of photography, videography and graphic design (Adobe Suite).
Demonstrated familiarity with social media platforms, CMS programs (such as WMT) and statistical programs (NCAA LiveStats).
Strong writing skills, including knowledge of AP Style.
Intense attention to detail and effective time management skills.
Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and external media members.
Exceptional interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education (Essential Requirements):
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Experience (Essential Requirements):
3-5 years of experience in Athletics, Public Relations, Digital Media and/or related field.
Ability to travel and work nights and weekends when required.
