Northern Illinois University (NIU) is accepting applications for a Digital and Social Media Manager in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This is a full-time, 12-month position with a robust benefits package.
Position Summary: The Athletics Digital and Social Media Manager is responsible for strategically telling the story of NIU Athletics, primarily through social media and digital content, perpetuating a positive image for the institution consistent with the departmental mission. Duties of this position include content creation and production (video, photo, graphics), coordinating and organizing NIU Athletics’ social media strategy, to include creating and implementing a social media calendar and monitoring results and analytics. The Digital and Social Media Manager will be responsible for producing video content for YouTube and other social platforms to grow and increase followers and viewers on the Huskies’ social media platforms. Additional duties include supporting special events and initiatives throughout department and assisting in promotional campaigns for awards. Other duties may include full Athletic Communications sport coverage for an assigned sport. This is a new position with opportunity to grow and build an important area within NIU Athletics.
Hiring rate is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media studies, photography, television production or similar area.
Ability to shoot and edit video and photo.
One (1) year of postgraduate experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
One (1) year of experience with video producing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, After Effects, or similar programs).
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with social media/digital communications in collegiate or professional athletics organization; Proven experience of growing social media audience, including through personal channels and/or platforms.
