The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs and is responsible for the development and administration of all athletic communications and media relations for the University’s Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program in accordance with all NCAA regulations.
2. Three to five years of experience in sports information, athletic administration, journalism or public relations required. Experience at the Division I level preferred.
3. Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
4. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
5. Knowledge of Genius Sports-LiveStats and StatCrew statistical programs are essential; knowledge of the following computer programs is also required: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier.
6. Familiarity with the working press.
7. Strong written and oral communication skills.
8. Willingness to travel, and work varied and flexible hours as required including evenings and weekends.
9. Accessibility to a car for travel to away games and as needed.
10. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the university’s Motor Vehicle Policy. A DMV check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the university. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the DMV check.
11. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
The Knights are home to 21 NCAA Division I teams. A member of the Northeast Conference, FDU has had tremendous success in the classroom, in athletic competition, and giving back to the Bergen County community. Since 2019, the Burgundy and Blue have captured 18 Northeast Conference championships. In 2020, FDU student-athletes were also recognized for their efforts in the community by winning the NEC Building Communities Award with over 3,000 community service hours. Other recent milestones include men's basketball winning three NCAA tournament games since 2019. In addition to recent championships, FDU also holds two NCAA National Championships in the sport of women's bowling (2006, 2010).
