Louisiana Tech University, a Division I Member of the NCAA and Conference USA, is seeking an Assistant Director of Strategic Communications.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serve as the primary communications contact for the baseball program, which has made recent NCAA Regional appearances in 2021 and 2022, as well as other assigned sports.
Duties include being responsible for the promotion and publicity efforts of assigned sports through social media channels, creative and web content, press releases, game notes, statistics, relations with local, regional and national media, etc.
Promote the assigned sports through internal channels – social media and the official website of LA Tech Athletics, LATechSports.com.
Use Adobe Creative Cloud products to develop and implement digital content through photos, videos, and graphics.
Assist the Strategic Communications staff with promoting the student-athlete experience at LA Tech as it relates to coverage of 16 Division I sport programs with an emphasis on digital and social media.
Work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment with coaches, other athletics staff, and external constituents and within the construct of overall departmental communication strategies for all sport programs.
Providing assistance in numerous other sports and ensure compliance with all relevant institutional, CUSA, NCAA rules.
Experience in an intercollegiate or professional sports team’s communications office with student assistant or internship experience being acceptable as part of the experience.
Applicants must possess experience with Adobe Creative Suite programs -- Photoshop (graphic design), Premiere Pro and/or After Effects (video), InDesign (desktop publishing) as well as preferred knowledge of SideArmSports, game operations, and various statistical programs (NCAA Live Stats, Stat Crew).
Applicants should possess writing and editing ability as well as knowledge of AP Style.
Candidates must be highly motivated, energetic, and be able to manage a work schedule that includes weekend and evening work as well as travel.
This is a 12-month intern position that pays $22,000. Does not qualify for benefits.
