Western Kentucky University, Department of Athletics, is seeking applications for Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant beginning August 15, 2023. This is a 12-month, part-time position that reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Communications/Marketing. Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Serve as primary media relations contact for assigned sports and secondary contact for one or two other sports
Responsible for assigned program’s social media accounts, including content calendar, creative vision and content creation in collaboration with creative team
Responsible for all written material, inclusive of media guide, game notes, press releases and more
Assist local, regional and national media with coverage of university’s athletic programs as a whole
Assist the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Communications/Marketing in growing regional network of coverage for the university's athletic programs while working with student-athletes and coaches to increase publicity of the university's athletic programs and academic achievements
Actively implement the athletic department’s social media policies on a day-to-day basis
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Communications/Marketing

Compensation:
$1,100 stipend, paid monthly. Scholarship will cover full tuition expenses for three classes per semester. Does not cover course related fees or textbooks. The candidate must have earned a baccalaureate degree and be admitted as a full-time student in any graduate program at Western Kentucky University, effective fall 2023. This position is a two-year commitment, renewed after one year based on satisfactory academic and work-related performance.
