Full-time position is the primary contact for Men’s Basketball, and other assigned Olympic sports.
The position assists the Associate Athletics Director for Media Relations in promoting the 49ers’ intercollegiate sports programs. Responsible for a strategic communications plan to promote and publicize assigned sports with emphasis on social media and visual storytelling. Responsible for building relationships with head coaches, student-athletes and staff; serving as adviser regarding communications strategy and content creation.
Coordinate media opportunities, press conferences and interviews and actively promote content through internal outlets. Design, write and produce record books, press releases, game programs and other publications. Act as liaison with Conference USA and NCAA offices. Maintain website content and engage social media platforms. Nominate student-athletes for national, regional and conference athletic and academic honors. Coordinate media operations for home events and assist with special events when necessary. Acts in compliance with institutional, conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations and reports known NCAA violations.
The Charlotte 49ers are the NCAA Division I athletics program for UNC Charlotte. The 49ers will be joining the American Athletic Conference in 2023-24 after a 10-year stint in Conference USA. Charlotte sponsors 18 sports (9 female, 9 male) and competes at the FBS level of college football. The 49ers have added a 19th sport, women's lacrosse, which will begin competition in the 2024-25 academic year.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Sport Management or related field; communications experience with college or professional sports; knowledge and experience with social media platforms and content creation
