Position Summary: The University of Indianapolis is located on the south side of the city, a short driving distance from the heart of downtown. Founded in 1902, UIndy is a private university with the motto, “Education for Service.”
The successful candidate will join a top-tier NCAA Division II athletics department, assisting the athletics communications/sports information office in promoting the institution’s 700-plus student-athletes from 23 programs. The successful candidate will be the primary sports info contact for selected sports, as well as provide support for all other programs and events related to athletics, which may include but is not limited to writing, video streaming, statistics capturing, media relations, video editing, photography, graphic design and broadcasting.
The candidate must comply with all institution, conference and NCAA guidelines and must be accepted into a graduate program at UIndy.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in sport management, communications, journalism or other related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; organizational and time management skills also key
Ability to establish close working relationships with department administrators and coaches
Proficiency with social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook
Represent the University of Indianapolis with the highest standard
Preferred Qualifications
Video editing, graphic design and desktop publishing experience via Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign)
Knowledge of stat capture applications such as NCAA Live Stats, StatCrew and Presto
Video streaming/production via Blueframe’s Production Truck software
Public Address and/or sports broadcasting experience will also be considered a plus
Fresh and creative ideas to enhance UIndy Athletics coverage through in-house channels, as well as through the local media whenever possible
