Summary: The sports information director provides leadership for all aspects of the Kentucky Christian University athletic department with regards to providing accurate and timely information to all constituencies, both within and outside the university. The sports information director will be a mature Christian leader committed to utilizing athletics as a tool for advancing the University’s Christ-centered mission; developing student athletes from academic, spiritual, and educational perspectives; and, establishing a culture of performance excellence.
Classification: A regular full-time staff position that is salary-non-exempt. The Sports Information Director reports to the KCU Athletic Director and works closely with coaches and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The sports information director will advance the University’s mission to educate students for Christian leadership and service in the church and professions throughout the world. An overarching passion for this mission must be demonstrated by the director and upheld as a standard within all athletic operations of the University.
The sports information director, as a highly visible representative of the University, will represent the University in a Christ-honoring and professional manner, while also ensuring that others associated with the program do likewise.
The sports information director will actively serve as a Christian mentor to student athletes and staff members.
The sports information director will serve as liaison between the athletic department and all reporting constituencies.
The sports information director is responsible for the recruitment and training of support personnel, both paid and volunteer.
The sports information director strives to represent the University’s foci of Christ, Character, and Career and is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the dissemination of athletic related information.
The sports information director is responsible for managing and maintaining all team electronic equipment used by the department.
The sports information director is responsible for overall program administration, including the development and exercise of an annual budget.
The sports information director must be highly communicative with coaches, student-athletes and the overall campus community.
The sports information director will maintain and comply with all policies, rules, and regulations included in the KCUStaff Handbook.
The sports information director will ensure athletic department integrity with regards to statistical and sport program informational requirements to be provided to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The following requirements will be used when determining the person to fill the position of the sports information director:
The sports information director will demonstrate spiritual maturity and a history of Christian leadership.
The sports information director must enthusiastically support the mission and vision of Kentucky Christian University and its core values.
A master’s degree is preferred, but all applicants will be considered.
Collegiate sports information and administrative experience will have preferred status.
COSIDA membership will have preferred status. Some collegiate sports information and administrative experience is preferred.
The successful applicant must have the capacity to manage staff positions in a reporting relationship.
Salary is contingent upon prior experience and similar professional responsibilities.
