Job Summary: The Sports Information Director (SID) will be responsible for all facets of athletic communications for the Monroe College--Bronx, a Division III, and the department’s 11 varsity and junior varsity athletic programs. This is a 12-month position that includes non-traditional working hours such as nights, weekends and holidays.
Job Responsibilities: The Sports Information Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Website maintenance for www.monroeexpress.com.
· Updating the official Monroe Express social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
· Providing in-game live statistics for home events, and collecting statistics for, and reporting on away contests.
· Providing a live video stream for as many home contests as possible.
· Acting as liaison between student-athletes and coaches and members of the media.
· Using graphic design such as Photoshop, InDesign and video editing tools to create promotional graphics for web and social media, as well as the design and production of game day programs.
· Writing press releases, game recaps and other posts for website and media distribution.
· Updating, creating and archiving record books and team history.
· Pre-game setup and post-game breakdown at home events.
· Supervision and scheduling of student employees for game-day scorer’s table operations, as well as for travel with teams.
· Training of student workers for game day roles and statistics both at home and on the road.
· Communication with the NJCAA and Region 15 administration for all NJCAA and region needs out of the sports information office.
· Coordinating photography, including headshots, green screens and action photos, for all athletic programs.
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 11 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
