This position includes an hourly wage for $15 per hour with expectation that the successful candidate will work an average of 25 hours per week. Position is budgeted for $15,000 for 10 months and hours are flexible outside of working required home events.
Overview:
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is one of the premier Division I schools in the country and one of four Division I schools in the state of Wisconsin. Currently, UWM offers 15 sports at the NCAA Division I level, with more than 300 student-athletes in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, women’s volleyball, women’s tennis, and baseball.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant AD-Communications, this position will serve as a communications assistant in the athletics communications department. This position is primary responsible for the publicity and media relations duties of their assigned sports. Those duties include game recaps, media guides/record books, website maintenance, press releases, statistical record-keeping and game day operations. Other duties include the promotion of assigned sports to local/national media, assist with the creation of social media content and fulfill game day roles at volleyball, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games as assigned and other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD-Communications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, or combination of education and relevant work experience.Previous experience with Stat Crew and/or Genius statistical software is preferred. Experience in communications, media relations, or public relations in collegiate or professional sports environment or a related field is also preferred.

Demonstrate excellence with verbal and written communication skills (as evidenced by application materials and interviews, where applicable).
Appointment:
This position is a 10-month appointment with anticipated start date of August 13th, 2023.Candidates must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Position has a successful track record of helping applicant land full-time position in the field following appointment.
