Bethany College in Bethany, W.Va. has an opportunity for a Graduate Intern for Athletic Communications for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.
Responsibilities:
The Graduate Intern for Athletic Communications will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with publicity efforts for the College’s 21-sport athletic program. The selected candidate will be the primary communications contact for several team sports, and other sport coverage as assigned. Primary responsibilities will include: updating and managing the college's athletic website (BethanyBison.com); writing game and event recaps; assisting in design of athletic graphics and social media efforts; compiling team statistics and records; compiling in-game statistics; reporting results to local, regional, and hometown media; monitoring and providing social media content and assisting with game operations. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, energetic, work well on tight deadlines and possess the ability to manage several projects at once. Ability to work weekends as well as nights is required, along with occasional travel. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Necessary Education or Work Experience:
A bachelor's degree, previous experience in a sports information office, previous experience with Stat Crew Software or NCAA Live Stats strongly preferred. Strong writing skills, a solid understanding of sports and sports statistics, experience working with a wide variety of sports also strongly preferred.
