SUMMARY OF POSITION: Reporting to the Director of Athletic Communications, the Assistant Director for Athletic Communication position will, through a courteous, helpful, unbiased and professional manner, help coordinate media relations activities within Converse Athletics. The Assistant Director of Athletic Communication will be responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining social media presents, statistical data and related information for Converse Athletics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Duties: 75%
Primary Media Contact for assigned sports
Communicate with all media outlets in a timely manner after each athletic event
Manage all pre- and post-game media related items for home and away events (i.e., Previews and Recaps)
Manage all pre- and post-game interview request from local media.
Understand and manage statistical software needed for department (i.e., Statcrew, NLS, Presto Live Stats).
Manage departments social media accounts, posting on a regular basis to main and sport specific accounts.
Coordinate all photoshoot and video shoot days for assigned teams.
The ability to use Adobe products to make content for social media - I.e., Graphics, Video Highlights, Interviews, etc.
Oversee Production of all sports related published materials - I.e., schedules, advertising, media guides, photos, etc.
Scheduling photographers for assigned sports home events.
Knowledge of Sidearm websites
Maintain an up-to-date website by updating the directory, staff bios, team rosters, student-athletes bios, schedules, statistics, policies and forms, when changes occur.
Knowledge of Blueframe/Production Truck products for Livestreaming events.
General Knowledge of cameras and audio equipment for livestreaming games and conducting interviews.
Maintain archives of all team and individual records and statistics.
Help manage a team of student workers and making sure positions are filled prior to gameday.
Training student workers to do specific jobs, i.e., scoreboard, directing livestream, videoboard.
Maintain a professional atmosphere in the press box and on press row throughout the game.
Attend all home events
Secondary Duties: 20%
Work closely with the Athletic Administration to develop and implement promotional incentives for game attendance.
Travel to away games within a two-hour drive of campus (only if no home games are on campus).
Travel with assigned sports to postseason events when possible.
The ability to take photos/video during media days or live sporting events.
The ability to direct the livestream or the video board for home games.
Will have to be the Public Address Announcer at specific sporting events.
Help with setup and cleanup of all home events, including setting up press row and the press box prior to events.
Work with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and work with the Director of Communications to plan the end of the year athletic banquet.
Work with the CT department for needs related to equipment.
Additional Responsibilities: 5%
Follow all institutional, Conference and NCAA guidelines and policies, as they pertain to sports information.
Assist in hosting special athletic events held on and off-campus
Represent the University on institutional, conference and national level, when applicable
Serve on campus committees as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or President
Serve on conference committees and attends conference activities, when applicable
Serve on external committees in the community
Attend NCAA functions and activities, when applicable
Uphold all Conference Carolinas and NCAA Rules in framework of good ethical conduct
Perform other duties, not specifically stated herein, deemed essential to the operations of the department as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required;
1-3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities preferred;
Experience in statistical software (i.e, Statcrew, NLS, Presto Live Stats);
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations;
Commitment to liberal arts education; and
Compliance with the University's Service Expectations.

GUIDELINES AND SUPERVISION: Reporting to the Director of Athletic Communications, the Assistant Director for Athletic Communication position will help manage the Athletic Department Communication Department. Each of these functions entails decision-making that requires discretion and a significant degree of independent judgment. Requires significant influence and communication with leadership. Problems faced are frequently complex and multidimensional, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact multiple areas of the organization.
Work Schedule: Sunday through Saturday - hours vary; includes "after-hours" work throughout the year
