West Chester University’s Sports Information Office welcomes applications for one (1) graduate assistantship position. The individual will work closely with many of West Chester’s 24 intercollegiate athletic programs, serving as the main media contact for a number of them as well. The successful applicant must be accepted into a WCU master’s program. Acceptance to a master’s program is mandatory before an offer for an assistantship can be offered.

Sports Information Duties & Responsibilities
Plan and direct publicity efforts, including multimedia, digital and social media strategies for promoting your assigned sports;
Serve as the primary contact for multiple sports, developing and managing publicity for each;
Write, research, compile and edit various athletic department communications materials, including press releases and game notes;
Work with the PSAC Network to create video broadcast streams. Broadcasting experience and the ability to mentor student broadcasters is a plus;
Experience with video editing software (iMovie, Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro) is encouraged;
Be required to attend games and events and work extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays; Some travel may be included in order to perform assigned job functions;
Assists with press box and press row operations, including assembling game day statistical booklets and setting up press row;
Assists with advance preparation for all away games;
Responsible for updating record books and student-athlete and coaches’ bios;
Responsible for maintaining statistical archives for assigned sports;
Assist in overall maintenance and upkeep of athletic department website (www.wcupagoldenrams.com) with specific focus on assigned sports;
Promote student-athletes for various national, regional and conference awards;
Comply with all NCAA, PSAC and WCU rules, regulations and policies.
Qualifications: Applicant must already have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in journalism, communications or related field). Experience in an athletic communications/media relations setting is preferred. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); Strong work ethic and ability and willingness to work athletic events, irregular schedules, weekends and/or evenings; Proficiency with online and desktop publishing, including InDesign and Photoshop; Familiarity and knowledge of StatCrew and NCAA Live Stats (Genius Sports) is preferred; Experience with social media tools; A well-rounded knowledge of athletics, including those sports offered at West Chester University preferred.
