Basic Function Under the direct supervision of the Associate Athletics Director of Media & Communications, the Athletics Communications Graduate Assistant will support the communications efforts for the athletics department and its 28 varsity sports in the areas of media relations, website management, social media, graphic design, video production, and statistics.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary communications contact for 1-2 sports in each athletic season
Research, write, and edit releases featuring student-athletes, coaches, and teams
Assist in producing content for MBUSpartans.com, Spartan Digital Network, and official athletics social media accounts
Maintain statistics for assigned sports (in-game, reporting, recordkeeping)
Help produce athletic publications such as game programs, game notes, recruit guides, etc.
Promote and nominate student-athletes for weekly and annual awards
Work with print, radio, and television media to promote Missouri Baptist Athletics
Arrange and/or perform gameday responsibilities such as public address, clock management, scoreboard operation, music, etc.
Mentor student assistants, interns, and Sport Management practicum students
Performance Measurement Criteria An annual performance review is to be conducted by the Associate Athletics Director of Media & Communications. This review will include an assessment of the degree to which primary responsibilities have been accomplished. In addition, an analysis of strengths and weaknesses, along with personal and professional development, will be included.

Bachelor’s degree is required within the preferred area of study of Digital Media, Film and Broadcasting, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Sports Management
Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics preferred
Proficient or basic knowledge of sports sponsored at Missouri Baptist University
Proficient or basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects)
Proficient or basic knowledge of statistical software (Presto Sports, StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats, DakStats)
Proficient or basic knowledge of website content management systems (SIDEARM, Presto Sports)
