Eastern Illinois University is seeking applicants for two Graduate Assistant positions for the 2023-24 academic year.  EIU is an NCAA Division I school (FCS football) that competes in the Ohio Valley Conference with affiliate memberships in The Summit League (M/W Swimming & M Soccer) along with the Horizon League (M Tennis).  Applicants are being sought for each of the following positions (one in each area)

1) Communications – This position will be the primary sport contact for selected sports in the communications office. Responsibilities include writing news releases, maintaining statistics and records, creating fact books, assisting with social media accounts, and serving as the liaison between the media and the sport programs.

2) Creative – This position will assist the communications staff with sport specific social media accounts. Responsibilities include production of creative content (video content, graphic design) and other duties as assigned which may include coverage of a sports program.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Web site maintenance via SIDEARM (adding schedules, rosters and headshots to team pages)
• Assisting with home game day responsibilities which includes:
• Setting up live stream and scorer’s table
• Using NCAA LiveStats to input stats or serve as the spotter
• Sending postgame files to the opposing SID and uploading XML to our website
• Writing and disseminating postgame recaps
• Creation of gameday and final score graphics
• Ability to be given extra duties based on skill set

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into an Eastern Illinois University master’s program
• Previous experience as a student intern or part-time assistant in a collegiate athletic communications office is preferred.
• Hands-on experience using NCAA LiveStats software is preferred
• Knowledge of proper terminology for some of the sports offered by EIU in order to be able to properly write releases for conference awards, preseason honors and post-game recaps
