Rockford University invites applications for the position of Sports Information Graduate Assistant to begin August 1, 2023. The Graduate Assistant will assist the Sports Information Director with the promotion and publicity of Rockford University’s 12 NCAA Division III intercollegiate varsity sports.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Sports Information Graduate Assistant responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with all game day operations; writing, editing, and disseminating press releases, game notes and stories; producing athletics publications, managing the athletic department social media pages and producing other digital media content; updating the athletics website (www.RockfordRegents.com); compiling, maintaining, and distributing statistics; and operating computer systems including Adobe Creative Suite, Stat Crew and NCAA Livestats. Some travel may be required as well. GA will work up to 40 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or related field is preferred; admission into a Rockford University graduate program; previous experience in a Sports Information Office is preferred; Experience with and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, NCAA LiveStats and Stat Crew is preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: GA will receive 21 credit hours of tuition remission per year, room and board and a monthly stipend.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Sports Information requires attendance at most home athletic events, both indoor and outdoors; nights and weekends are required; Office work will also be involved.
