Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications to fill the position of Director of Strategic Communications. The successful applicant will assist with all aspects of electronic media production, strategic communications plans, public relations initiatives, and the ASU Sports Network programming relating to the university's intercollegiate sports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create athletic graphics and templates for online digital platforms and select print materials
Assist with training staffing of game day workers, including statisticians, game and shot clock operators, scorekeepers, live stream, and camera operators
Supervise athletic communication operations and game day crew during home sporting events
Assist in maintaining and updating bamastatesports.com athletics website with current rosters, schedules, statistical information, photo galleries, and other related daily content
Assist in facilitating "media days" for student-athletes and teams
Write game recaps, and play/team award articles
Serve as game statistician during select home games using statistical software
Organize, collaborate with, and lead diverse groups, and supervise home contests
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree with excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills, strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and general experience with Adobe Creative Suite, have working knowledge of website content management software (i.e., SIDEARM, Prestosports), and statistical software (i.e., Genius Sports, Statcrew). Must have a flexible schedule to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
