Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics and the Senior Associate Athletic Director, the incumbent is responsible for a more strategic role in developing communications for the sole purpose of promoting and publicizing the intercollegiate athletics program through written publications and other media. Specific areas of responsibilities will include writing, editing, and proofreading copy to produce standard print or electronically-based communications for targeted internal and external audiences as it relates to Collegiate Athletics, collaborating with designers, photographers, coaches, student-athletes, and others on the theme, designing and content of print, electronic and web-based publications to maximize impact; participating in the ongoing management of the Athletics website; developing, researching and positioning stories including conducting interviews and creating story content and layout, acting as an Athletics representative and/or spokesperson for media contacts; cultivating media relationships; advising Athletics' staff, intercollegiate coaches and student-athletes on media interviews; and setting up speakers. Serving as an Athletics Communications, the incumbent will be coordinating athletic events including setting up the press box and overseeing the collection and verification of sports statistics.
May use campus cart or own vehicle.
Evening and weekend games while in season.
