Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference member, is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Assistant Director of Strategic Communications. The position’s responsibilities include serving as the sport contact for the nationally-ranked women’s soccer and softball programs, as well as the secondary women’s basketball contact.
Duties as a sport contact include:
Generating feature content, photo, video and other unique coverage for GoPSUsports.com, the official website of Penn State Athletics.
Producing online team record books, news releases and feature stories.
Responding to media requests.
Facilitating social media in line with department goals.
Staffing home and select away events; supervising student assistants as well as statistical crews and other event support personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations or related field plus work-related experience in communications or public relations is preferred.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Spark, etc.), website content management systems, social media platforms and Statcrew/NCAA Live Stats is preferred. Experience in photography, recording and editing video is desired. Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations or a related field plus work-related experience in communications or public relations is required. Excellent communication and organizational skills are also required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance is required. Position requires considerable initiative, creativity and independence.
