The Graduate Assistant position is a two-year assignment beginning with the 2023-24 academic year and includes a tuition waiver of 6 graduate credit hours plus student fees per term (summer terms excluded), up to 24 total credit hours. The position also includes a stipend. Graduate assistants must maintain at least 6 hours of graduate-level credit per semester to be eligible.

Belmont University’s Department of Athletics is seeking applicants for two (2) graduate assistant positions in its Athletic Communications’ office. The positions will encompass various duties, including: serving as a primary media relations’ contact for assigned sports including, but not limited to: baseball, volleyball, women’s soccer, softball, Olympic sports; acting as an intermediary between the athletic program and various media outlets; serving as primary content creator for assigned sport social media accounts; serving as secondary media relations contact for men’s basketball; assisting with the planning, staffing and coverage of all BU sports; updating the official athletic website of Belmont University Athletics, belmontbruins.com; writing and disseminating press releases; game notes and record book layout design and content management; statistical upkeep; assisting staff with game day operations; supporting multimedia endeavors, including, but not limited to: marketing/promotions; graphic design, live event video streaming,; and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field, acceptance into Belmont University’s Sport Administration graduate program or another approved graduate program, and 1-2 years of experience in the athletic communications’ field. Must have proven written and oral communications skills, with the ability to produce creative content, press releases, game notes, media guides and other game day materials. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Spark, Audition, etc.), NCAA Genius & Stat Crew statistical software and social media management platforms such as TweetDeck and the Facebook Creative Suite (or comparable) required. Experience SIDEARM, PrestoSports or comparable online content management system a plus. Previous intercollegiate athletic SID experience preferred. Involves periodic travel and night/weekend hours. Start date is flexible, but recommended no later than August 1, 2023. Applicants must submit to a criminal background check, subject to review and approval by Belmont University.
