The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications administers the dissemination of information regarding specific sports within the intercollegiate athletics program. Provides necessary media relations materials and serves as media liaison at selected athletic events. Develops desktop publishing’s technical capabilities and internet publicity including website and social media for intercollegiate athletics.
Essential Duties
Administers the dissemination of information regarding men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, and women’s tennis programs
Provides media relations materials and serves as media liaison for designated program
Responsible for design and maintenance of editorial and graphic content on athletics website for designated programs using html, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator
Provides direction for staff; plans coverage at all intercollegiate home events for designated programs
Manage communications to external community through social media including publicity for teams, promotion of events and ticket sales
Coordinate and oversee Athletic Department public relations needs
Assists in developing communications plan that will increase the visibility and brand for Athletic Department as well as the University
Assists in continued development of desktop publishing’s technical capability and internet publicity
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of related professional or technical experience
• Strong writing and editing experience to include social media, website content and print
• MS Office, computer and desktop publishing skills including graphics content
• Possession of excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as organizational skills
EDUCATION:
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
