Reporting to the Director of Strategic Athletic Communications and College Media, the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications supports Springfield College's longstanding athletics excellence by highlighting and storytelling its 26 intercollegiate sports and its student-athletes through creative digital content, media relations, press releases, SpringfieldCollegePride.com, and any additional print & electronic media. This position requires the willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as well as some travel to away sporting events.
Responsibilities: Coordinate athletics communication efforts, including news releases, gameday operations, statistics collection and management, photography and videography, social media and creative content.
Manage the athletics website (SpringfieldCollegePride.com) and social media platforms.
Serve as the lead contact at the conference, regional, and national level for assigned sports; serve as the primary contact for a select number of varsity teams.
Provide appropriate guidance to coaches, student-athletes and staff members regarding media inquiries.
Assist in developing the department's graphic design and video content creation. Assist in content strategies based on current trends for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Responsible for gameday video stream and video production systems that include PrestoStreaming, PlaySight, and additional software.
Supervision of student workers.
Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as a proficiency in graphic design and video editing.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Sports Journalism, Sport Management, Journalism, Marketing or related field with 3-5 years of directly related experience with a minimum 2 years of experience in a collegiate sports information setting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
The successful candidate will be a proficient social media content creator.
Have a strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Cloud, and photo and video editing software.
Knowledge of in-game statistical software (Stat Crew, PrestoStats, and NCAA LiveStats).
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, strong attention to details, and the ability to manage multiple projects in an effective and timely manner.
Savvy in both written and verbal communication.
Willingness to create strong working relationships with coaches and student-athletes.
Ability to relate and work with other campus stakeholders.
Ability to exercise sound judgement, confidentiality and work independently.
Occasional evening, holiday, or weekend work may be necessary as events and circumstances demand.
